Portraits of a New Beginning Foreword: The Exit Door
Crossing the threshold of a prison is often seen as a moment of liberation, but for many, it marks the start of a new struggle. The exit door opens into the harsh realities faced by those seeking a second chance after incarceration, delving into systemic injustices and personal stories of resilience. This text is part of the book "Portraits of a New Beginning," a project that brings together the stories of 23 Latino men and women who embarked on the journey of reintegrating into society and starting a new life after serving time in jails or prisons in the United States.
